Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the next Synuclein Meeting. The meeting is entitled "Synuclein Meeting 2019: Where we are and where we need to go" and follows the 12-year tradition of biennial meetings in the synuclein field.

The meeting will take place in Ofir, a city in the outskirts of Porto, Portugal. We are witnessing exciting times in the field, with important ongoing (and future) clinical trials that bring hope to patients with Parkinson's disease and their families. However, we still face many challenges and need to address fundamental questions so the filed can progress to where we would like to be. In this context, we have organized the meeting around round-table discussions, to break away from the more rigid format of regular scientific meetings based on oral presentations, and create opportunities for discussing the major questions in the field, and contribute to challenging dogmatic ideas that need to be updated. We are confident we will bring together the leading experts in the field, both from the academia and from industry, and a broad community of junior scientists that need to be engaged for a bright future in the field.

Ofir is a beach resort that will provide a beautiful and relaxed environment, that was chosen to promote scientific interactions between all participants. The core program will be preceded by a half-day workshop on clinical and neuropathological aspects of synucleinopathies, with the aims of providing a strong knowledge basis for the main program.

We hope you can join us and we are looking forward to hosting you in Portugal for this exciting meeting!
