Dear participants, we have reached the limited number of capacity for VoM2022. Therefore, new registrations won't be accepted.

A glimpse of VoM2022!

Welcome to Viruses of Microbes 2022!

The central theme of VoM 2022 is “the latest conquests on viruses of microbes”. This theme is allusive to the enormous scientific advances both in fundamental knowledge and biotechnological applications of viruses of microbes that we are recently witnessing and at the same time makes a parallel to the city of Guimarães, a symbol of the Portuguese conquests.

The meeting intends to spotlight the most recent advances in ecology and evolution of microbial viruses, virus structures and function, virus-host interaction, agro-food, veterinary and environmental biotechnology applications and phage therapy.

We believe that this will be of great interest to a wide-ranging audience, interested in both the fundamental and applied aspects of virus exploitation. Therefore, the meeting is organized into the following topics:

  • Ecology and evolution of microbial viruses
  • Virus structures and function
  • Virus-host interaction: overcoming cell barriers
  • Virus-host interaction: molecular mechanisms
  • Virus-host interaction: host defence and viral evasion mechanisms
  • Agro-food, veterinary and environmental biotechnology applications
  • Biotechnology applications in health care
  • Current state and latest developments of phage therapy

Besides the exciting scientific programme, several social evening activities will be happening in the beautiful city of Guimarães, one of Portugal’s UNESCO World Heritage of medieval origin, commonly referred as the “cradle of the nation”.

We sincerely hope that this conference will contribute to fruitful discussions around viruses of microbes and inspire and motivate young researchers in their early carriers.

We look forward to welcoming you in Guimarães, Portugal and we hope you will join us to make Viruses of Microbes 2022, a memorable event!
