Venue Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Guimarães

The Vila Flor Cultural Centre is a respected and distinguished establishment on the Portuguese national cultural scene. Located in the city centre of one of Portugal’s UNESCO World Heritage cities – Guimarães, a city of medieval origin also known to be the cradle of the nation. With its roots in remote century tenth, the history of Guimarães is closely associated with the establishment of the Portuguese national identity and the Portuguese language in the twelfth century.

Guimarães is an exceptionally well-preserved city, which reflects the evolution of some private buildings from medieval times to the present, particularly between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. Since 2001 the historic town centre is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city centre offers a variety of restaurants, coffee shops and shopping centres that meet the highest guest requirements.

The Vila Flor Cultural Centre is a true mark of excellence in a place where culture is lived out fully and where it is on offer to a broad range of audiences. The Cultural Centre incorporates the eighteenth century Vila Flor Palace and brings together the rich history of a manor house, its magnificent gardens and lovely architecture, evoking the ideas of ancestral memories with touches of modernity. The theatre wing is a totally new design building added on to hold all types of cultural events and one where all resources are optimized to provide the highest quality facilities and spaces, which guarantee that a wide range of events can be successfully hosted.

Equipped with two auditoriums, four conference rooms, an exhibition area of 1,000 m² , a restaurant, lounge bar, car park and gardens, the Vila Flor Cultural Centre has strengthened and broadened the cultural and socio-economical profile of the city of Guimarães as well as its surrounding area, offering unique facilities for the organizing and holding of events of many kinds.
