Sara Souto Miranda is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy of the Polytechnic University of Setúbal and Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre, a research member of the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC) at the Nova Medical School in Lisbon, an associate editor for BMJ Open Respiratory Research, and a member of the General Council of the Portuguese Order of Physiotherapists. She completed her physiotherapy and masters’ degrees at University of Aveiro and has a post-graduation course on adult respiratory physiotherapy from the same institution. She finished her double PhD in 2023 at Maastricht University and University of Aveiro. She has been involved in several funded research projects, published >25 research articles in international peer reviewed journals, a book chapter, and >50 abstracts in conference proceedings. She is currently a selected member of the Guideline Methodology Network and of three Task Forces of the European Respiratory Society. She has been distinguished by the European Lung Foundation and European Respiratory Society, by Direção Geral de Ensino Superior, the Portuguese Pulmonology Society and by CIRO+ with research awards, travel grants and fellowships.
