Welcome Message

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we invite you to participate in the 1st International Congress on Pulmonary Rehabilitation (CIRR), which will take place from March 26th to 28th 2026, at the Montebelo Vista Alegre Ílhavo Hotel, in Portugal.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is a fundamental non-pharmacological treatment for almost all chronic and also acute respiratory patients. It spans the various areas of Pulmonology—from oncological, pleural, interstitial, and neuromuscular diseases, to, of course, obstructive diseases, with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease being the one with the strongest scientific evidence.

As it is well known, both nationally and globally, PR access remains very limited, and there are still many barriers to overcome. The best way to do it is by spreading awareness of the benefits of the intervention and encouraging more healthcare professionals to dedicate to this field. Only then will be possible to increase the number of existing programs and help more patients.

The members of the PR Working Committee of the SPP aim, with this initiative, to address these issues and take the first step toward what will certainly become an annual, high-quality, multidisciplinary, and international scientific meeting—an event where the latest scientific evidence in PR will be shared, along with ideas, projects, experiences, and challenges.

With the profits from this event, we intend to support NHS hospitals with respiratory therapy equipment, to expand the number of hospital programs available in Portugal, helping even more patients with respiratory pathologies.

Therefore, we invite all healthcare professionals interested in PR to take part in this event, which promises to be highly enriching and dynamic from a formative perspective—welcoming Pulmonologists, Physiatrists, Cardiologists, General Practitioners, Nurses, Physiotherapists, all healthcare professionals who share a passion for PR.
